Excuses for going bald

You wake up one morning, roll over, and see a few more hairs on your pillow than usual. You start to panic. You decide to take a shower, and notice more strands of hair in your fingers as you wash it.  The panic starts to intensify. It hits you… You’re going bald!
 
The reality is, you’re not alone. In fact, according to the American Hair Loss Association, two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of hair loss by the time they’re 35 and by the time they’re 50, that number jumps to 85%. 
 
Just because hair loss is common doesn’t mean it’s not a sensitive topic. In fact, for many men and women, going bald can be a real source of anxiety and insecurity. If you’re struggling to come to terms with your hair loss, don’t worry – we’ve got your back with this list of excuses for losing your precious hair and going bald.
 

Here is a list of excuses for going bald

  1. You’re on a new diet, not getting enough nutrients, and it’s causing your hair to fall out.
  2. You have a thyroid condition.
  3. You have an infection on your scalp.
  4. You got a bad haircut.
  5. You started a new medication which is causing hair loss.
  6. You have recently been under a lot of stress and it’s causing your hair to thin.
  7. You were shaving your head, and accidentally used the wrong setting and cut it a little too close to the scalp.
  8. Actors like Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) have really pulled off the bald look, and you thought you’d copy them.
  9. You’re an athlete and decided to shave your head to help with aerodynamics.
  10. You’ve going through chemotherapy.
  11. You have an autoimmune disease.
  12. Unfortunately, you have a history of baldness in your family.
  13. You have a hormonal imbalance. 
  14. After having a child, your hair has started to thin.
  15. You have alopecia.
  16. You are suffering from trichotillomania, which is a condition where you have the uncontrollable urge to pull your own hair out.
  17. You recently went through or witnessed a traumatizing experience and it has caused your hair loss.
  18. Smoking and drinking a lot of alcohol has caused you to start balding.
  19. You switched your shampoo & conditioner, and suffered an allergic reaction to the new products.
  20. You have been over styling your hair and it has caused it to shed.
  21. You’re simply just getting older, and going bald is a part of life.
The bottom line is that there are a lot of potential reasons why someone might start to lose their hair, and it’s best to consult with a doctor if you’re truly concerned. There are treatments available for hair loss, so it’s important to get a diagnosis and figure out the best course of action. If you need to use one of these excuses for going bald until you figure out how to treat it, try not to stress because that will only make it worse. If all else fails, remember that bald can be beautiful too!
